A Whole New World

No, I am not talking about Aladdin! This is not the “dazzling place I never knew.”

Our new reality can seem quite daunting, working at home, homeschooling and limited social interaction. As a full-time working mom of four kids, two in college, one in high school and one in elementary with an IEP this is no easy task.

With our normal routine thrown out the window, how do we stay on task and be productive with so many distractions? I think the bigger question is how do we all stay mentally healthy? Some of you may face the opposite challenge of suddenly being isolated at home or having your hours cut or be laid off.

There are lots of tips on how to work from home such as getting dressed, take breaks, communicate, and have a comfortable space. more serious challenge is how do we keep perspective and remembering what is truly important in life. Such as still having a jobour health or working in a safe environment. I don’t need to worry that there are not enough supplies to prevent me from getting sick or that now that school is canceled my children may not have enough food to eat.

Here is how I choose to work from home:

  • I’m going to find joy every day, counting my blessings.
  • Make it a priority to reach out to others, helping to reduce my feeling of isolation and that of others.
  • Be thoughtful about ways to help my community and others in need and act.
  • Finally choose to practice a lot of patience, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger right?

Lets all be wise and not panic.
